The Company is highly acquisitive and has completed approximately more than 10 acquisitions per year since 2013, including numerous large strategic acquisitions. Recent hallmark transactions include the acquisitions of FacilitySource (2018) and Telford Homes (2019). Transactions are driven by a top-down macro strategy: strategic in-fill acquisitions sourced principally by lines of business and highly targeted larger transformational transactions.
CBRE is seeking an exceptional Corporate Development leader to source, cultivate and directly negotiate complex M&A and investment transactions at the highest level.
The Vice President, Corporate Development will report directly to the EVP, Corporate Development and Global Head of M&A who reports directly to the CEO, and work alongside the senior leadership team, business unit leaders and third-party firms on deals.
Additionally, the Vice President, Corporate Development will manage a global team of Directors, Managers and Analysts and regularly interface with the CEO, CFO, Chief Digital and Technology Officer, Segment CEOs, as well as other key stakeholders.
This individual will also play a critical role in executing CBRE's M&A top-down investment strategies, the prioritization of the M&A and investment efforts, and the enhancement of our global M&A processes and policies.
Execution of Impactful M&A
Work closely with business leaders to prioritize M&A opportunities that are aligned and consistent with CBRE's strategic priorities.
Support the development of the top-down macro investment
Lead the cultivation and diligence of opportunities to drive a thorough understanding of the investment opportunity and CBRE's strategic objectives.
Direct the qualitative and quantitative analysis and underwriting of investment opportunities with a focus risk-adjusted and unbiased reviews.
Develop and execute complex negotiating approaches to achieve desired results.
Proactively search for new investment, acquisition, partnership opportunities.
Move quickly on executable, high value, opportunities.
Form Exceptionally Strong Partnerships
Build partnerships with business and shared service leaders to execute the most impactful and prioritized initiatives of the Company.
Collaborate closely with business leaders to sponsor transactions including the development of key strategic rationale and operating performance projections.
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related discipline from a 4 -year college or university; Master's degree preferred. Requires a minimum of 12+ years of related experience.
Direct experience leading the negotiation process on complex transactions.
Ability to lead diverse teams negotiating acquisitions and investments as both a principally-minded professional and a fiduciary for the Company.
Excellent communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead internal and external teams through the overall process on complex merger or investment transactions.
Deep knowledge of M&A related legal and tax structural considerations to drive optimal outcomes. Experience working on international or cross border transactions.
Monitor the Company's key competitors and the industry to inform views on Company's priorities and opportunities.
Strong understanding of the competitive landscape that enables perspectives to be applied to investment and partnership structuring approaches.
Ability to look ahead at the strategic horizon and prioritize opportunities based on estimated impact, ease of implementation and potential downside risk.
Capable of supporting the team's decisions related to intelligent and informed build vs. buy vs. partner recommendations.
