Playing a key role on the CBRE Econometric Advisors team, as a Sr. Economist you will be responsible for forecasting key macro variables, while incorporating emerging patterns in tech and the digital economy to develop new research that drive our real estate forecasts.
Key responsibilities will include:
Keeping abreast of economic issues affecting both the U.S. macro and metro level economies.
Building models and algorithms for forecasting metro and submarket level employment, incomes and migration.
Working with our data science and engineering teams as well as your fellow economists to drive research from development into production with the goal of helping to deliver actionable insights and accurate real estate forecasts to our clients.
Managing and participating in production of quarterly forecasts and written analysis of economic conditions. The person occupying this role will be working with a team of economists and analysts to create and maintain models, combining CBRE's proprietary data and other datasets available to CBRE EA, primarily for use in commercial real estate analysis. In addition, the economist will interact with analysts and economists from other CBRE research teams, as well as key members of CBRE's Digital &Technology, client service, and sales teams.
Providing thought leadership to CBRE senior management and helping to achieve and maintain best in class real estate forecasts.
OTHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Undertake quantitative analysis with time series econometric techniques and convert to transparent and defensible market forecasts.
Monitor and analyze monthly economic (macro-economic and metro-level), financial, and commercial real estate market trends and incorporate findings into presentations, reports and white papers.
Conduct presentations internally and externally as needed to support business development efforts.
May serve as internal and external spokesperson on real estate issues, particularly regarding the macro-economic and metro-level drivers.
Analyze macro-economic and metro-level economic and real estate market trends and incorporate findings into presentations, reports and white papers.
Assist with the development of a range of innovative research products and services.
Remain current on major new issues and techniques particularly in the field of macro and urban economics.

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Master's degree or PhD in Economics, with four to six years' experience in commercial real estate or economic forecasting.
Substantive knowledge and skills of time series forecasting applied to macroeconomic modeling or commercial real estate, including on statistical analysis using standard packages (e.g. STATA, E-Views, R, Python).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable, and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information to both internal and external clients.
Expert level analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing strategic solutions for a growing matrix-based multi-industry sales environment. Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on the company.
Good knowledge of econometrics as evidenced by education, publications or projects. Ability to work well under pressure, with multiple/competing deadlines.
Ability to make decisions with thorough understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve general results and deadlines. Responsible for setting work unit and/or project deadlines.
Appreciation of modern data science approaches and passionate about complex problem solving.
