Frontier Development is a national real estate development and investment firm specializing in the acquisition, development, construction and management of commercial real estate throughout the United States. Frontier Development’s projects include high profile specialty shopping centers and freestanding single tenant build-to-suits.
The Director, Real Estate Development role is focused on the development of multiple ground-up projects both current and future, the growth of the Company’s business, along with proving exceptional leadership and guidance to a team of professionals. The Director of Real Estate Development will work closely with principal owners on all phases of development projects – from purchasing agreement to closing to construction.
Main areas of focus to include (but not limited to): managing the pre-acquisition due diligence procurement and leading the entitlement processes throughout the duration of the projects;
Supervising ground-up development planning & the coordination of the hand-off to construction; etc.
Proven ability to manage teams and projects from inception to completion
Duties of the position include:
Procure, review and approve all necessary Due Diligence inspections and reports
Preparing concept layouts for potential projects, source proposals from engineers and consultants and manage their timely workflow throughout the entitlement process
Research state and local development ordinances, zoning, DOT’s, etc. speak with local jurisdictions and consultants to develop the critical path and development requirements for each project
Value engineering site plans to maximize square footage and minimize design specifications
Providing direction to engineers, architects and tenant representatives regarding proposed design style, coordination of Landlord and Tenant’s plans and review of the Landlord’s Work requirements prior to submittal
Prepare preliminary development and construction budgets for proposed projects based on existing site conditions, market knowledge and preliminary information
Reviewing and approving civil and architectural drawings prior to submittal to government agencies; review and manage agency comments; attend and present at hearings as required.
Developing project schedules for seamless coordination between all involved parties
Assisting with all related negotiations with consultants, third party agencies, etc.
Supervises project management staff on project development. Provide mentorship.
Model an attitude that problems are opportunities to collaborate on solutions.
Hires, trains, mentors, motivate and evaluate assigned staff.
Ensures new development staff receives comprehensive training.
Meets regularly with staff and supports their professional development and ongoing work.
Promotes strong inter-departmental relationships.
Develop standards and improve operating procedures.

The Candidate’s Background
We are seeking an individual whose background includes:
Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related discipline
Five years of related retail (free-standing and shopping center) and land development experience
Strong knowledge of the commercial real estate industry specifically related to development projects
Ability to work in a fast-pace environment; manage multiple projects simultaneously; multi-task effectively with an attention to detail
Strong written and oral communication, and negotiation skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Project, and Excel
Ability to travel
