Hana is seeking a Design Manager to manage and run multiple design teams delivering flexible office space around the globe. This role will be based in New York City with global responsibilities in a fast-paced environment and report to the Director of Design.
The Design Manager at Hana is responsible for managing internal design teams at Hana running multiple projects. The well-qualified candidate will be extremely process-driven and have a vision of how to grow the design staff's critical skills, design sensibilities, and manage professional development. The Design Manager must be able to take strategic direction from the Design Director and other senior leadership in the organization and translate directives into day to day tactics to execute design work in accordance with key business objectives. The Design Manager will be responsible for removing roadblocks for design teams and providing critical oversight of project schedules, documents, and budget. The Design Manager will also be responsible for managing design staff's allocation to product development initiatives to not only build the product fleet, but drive the rigorous and iterative improvement of Hana's design. The Design Manager will be responsible for ensuring the design team can scale sustainably to become a global leader in workplace design.
Experience & Qualifications
The well-qualified Design Manager will have or be able to:
Accredited degree in interior design, architecture, or construction management or a related field, or equivalent work experience
Minimum 7 or more years of experience directly managing all phases of architectural design and construction processes
Experience in directing project staff and coordinating consultants and contractors through all phases of design and construction
Experience in creating and managing contract documents
Experience in translating overarching strategies to tactics to ensure that team day-to-day activities meet both project goals but broader business goals for the Hana organization
Understand and ensure the delivery of design and construction metrics and data that are critical value to internal stakeholders in other departments including finance, sales, marketing, etc.
Drive project delivery while working alongside product development.
Strong background in BIM and how building data may be leveraged by other stakeholders
Expertise in standard design software, (Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, etc.)
Have expert opinions and an interest in emerging technologies and how to leverage them to drive efficiency and quality of work
Create professional development opportunities for all direct reports
Manage a growing pipeline of design work across multiple teams and offices
Manage and increase the efficiency of core staff in the design studio with minimal resources
Manage consultant work around the globe both for projects as well as key
Prioritize and schedule deliverables to internal stakeholders
Integrate project timelines with continued product development
Have a rolled-up sleeves attitude to get work done in a timely way
Develop and grow a sustainable design practice for entry level through senior level architects and interior designers
Manage a growing pipeline of project work and the staff to successfully execute extremely fast-paced projects around the world
Drive the standardization and scalability of architecture and design at Hana.
Drive innovation of workplace design at scale and collaborate with product development teams to continually improve the product in meaningful and results-driven initiatives.

Standardize design and construction to reduce capital costs over time at scale
Create process, tools, and training to grow an internal design practice
