Our team of roughly 80 engineers, designers, product managers and artists is aligned with the global company but have independent oversight and strategy. We are looking for a Business Operations Manager to manage our operations team spread across two offices in NYC and Seattle. Responsibilities include planning, managing and directing business operations to include the following functions: accounts payable, project budgets, billing and accounts receivables, contract administration, licensing, transaction processing and ad-hoc data reports.
Excellent communication skills, business operations experience, and a passion for technology are a must. You should be a self-driven individual able to execute in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction. We are looking for a self-starter who can manage our logistics and multiple projects with skill and professionalism. The ideal candidate takes initiative and works proactively, rather than waiting for problems to arise before taking action.
This role is based in NYC, with quarterly onsites in Seattle.
Manage and develop a bi-coastal operations team through mentoring, coaching, and leadership. Responsible for staffing levels, recruitment, and performance management.
Partner with the leadership team to develop and meet high-level operational goals and long-term strategy
Work with the broader team to proactively identify areas of inefficiency
Design and implement low-friction processes and systems with a bias towards iteration over perfection while complying with greater company policies.
Keep multiple projects on track, anticipating challenges and synthesizing progress for senior executives while diving into the weeds when necessary
Manage and maintain an operating budget including planning, reconciliation and forecasting; track and ensure progress towards financial goals and expenditures. Prepare ad hoc data reports for revenue, expenses and other business metrics.
Improve onboarding, recruiting, training and retention through developing systems and processes and working with our internal engagement and diversity committees
Manage ongoing facilities needs including IT, AV and security needs
Oversee event planning (e.g. team offsites, hosting meetups, etc)
Oversee general office services (e.g. reception, packages, supplies, etc)
Create a positive team dynamic, be a trusted partner and a cultural ambassador
Create a service-oriented organization that obsesses over supporting employees, forming positive partnerships with stakeholders at CBRE and increasing engagement.
Measure, report team performance based on satisfaction, efficiency and cost metrics.
Skills and Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in a senior operating role
Experience with leading and developing a team, preferably distributed
Comfortable and productive with ambiguity and minimal direction
Highly organized and able to juggle needs across different contexts, departments, and people
Strong problem-solving skills with an eye towards systematic solutions that address underlying needs
In-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles, ability to forecast and prepare budgets, and conduct financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports
Ability to solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, to groups of all sizes
